Hooks

Send Fineract events to a URL or SMS gateway.

Open System → Hooks (or Ctrl+K and type "hooks"). You need READ_HOOK to view the list and CREATE_HOOK, UPDATE_HOOK, or DELETE_HOOK to change it.

A hook fires when a chosen command runs — for example after a loan is approved. Fineract posts the event to the URL or SMS settings on the hook.

What you can do

  • Browse hooks by name, template, and active flag.
  • Create a hook in four steps: details (template, name, active), config, events, then review. Open New hook. On the events step, Add event (or a row) opens a docked side panel for grouping, entity, and action.
  • Edit uses the same wizard. You can change the name, active flag, config, and events. The template cannot change after create.
  • Delete a hook from the row menu.
  • Export the list as CSV or Excel.

Templates

Membership comes from GET /hooks/template — typically Web, SMS Bridge, Elastic Search, and Message Gateway. Config fields (payload URL, content type, SMS provider, and so on) come from that template's schema, not a fixed Bankayo list.

Web is the only template that can have more than one hook. The others may exist once.

Content type on Web and Elastic Search must be json or form. Fineract checks that a payload URL responds when you create the hook.

Events

Each event is an entity plus an action from the template groupings (Fineract permissions that are not READ or CHECKER). Add as many as you need; at least one is required. Duplicate entity/action pairs are not saved. Events are edited in the side panel on the events step.

Maker-checker

When maker-checker is enabled on the tenant, hook changes may queue for approval in the Checker Inbox instead of applying immediately.
