External services
SMS, email, Amazon S3, and notification gateway settings in Fineract.
Open System → External services (or press Ctrl+K and type "external services", "SMS", "SMTP", or "S3"). You need READ_EXTERNALSERVICECONFIGURATION, ALL_FUNCTIONS_READ, or UPDATE_EXTERNALSERVICES to view the list, and UPDATE_EXTERNALSERVICES to save changes. Superusers with ALL_FUNCTIONS can do both.
These are institution-wide Fineract gateways — not document/SMS templates (Mustache text) and not the notifications bell in the top bar.
What you can do
- Switch gateways with the side tabs (SMS, Email, Amazon S3, Notification). On small screens the tabs scroll horizontally. Current values sit on the same row as the control. Secret fields stay blank; leave them blank to keep the stored value.
- Bookmark a gateway with
?service=sms(oremail,s3,notification) — that selects its tab. The command menu uses those links. - Export every setting as CSV or Excel. Secret values (passwords and keys) are exported as dots, not the live secret.
Gateways
| Service | What it configures |
|---|---|
| SMS | Message gateway host, port, endpoint, and tenant app key |
| SMTP username, password, host, port, TLS, from email, and from name | |
| Amazon S3 | Bucket, access key, and secret key for file storage |
| Notification | Server key plus GCM and FCM endpoints for push notifications |
Membership of each gateway's fields comes from Fineract
(ExternalServicesConstants). Bankayo labels those keys; it does not hide a
setting Fineract stores.
Secrets
Fineract does not send stored passwords or server keys back in full. Leave a secret field blank to keep the current value. Type a new value only when you intend to replace it.
Maker-checker
When maker-checker is enabled for UPDATE_EXTERNALSERVICES, a save may wait in the checker inbox instead of applying immediately.
