System

Codes

Fineract lookup codes and dropdown values.

Open System → Codes (or Ctrl+K and type "codes"). You need READ_CODE to view the catalog and CREATE_CODE, UPDATE_CODE, or DELETE_CODE to manage user-defined codes. Code values need READ_CODEVALUE and the matching write permissions.

What you can do

  • Browse all Fineract codes (system and user-defined).
  • Preview values from the list without leaving the page — click the value count badge.
  • Open a code to manage its values on a dedicated screen (/system/codes/{id}).
  • Create user-defined codes from the list; after save you land on the new code’s values tab.
  • Manage values with name, description, position, and active flag.
  • Export the catalog or a code’s values as CSV or Excel.

Detail screen

The detail page opens on the Code values tab. Use General to rename a user-defined code. System codes show a read-only name with a hint that values can still be edited.

System vs user-defined

System codes ship with Fineract. You cannot rename or delete the code itself, but you can still add or edit its values. User-defined codes created through the API can be fully managed until Fineract reports they are in use.

Maker-checker

When maker-checker is enabled on the tenant, code changes may queue for approval in the Checker Inbox instead of applying immediately.
