Provisioning entries
Calculate loan-loss reserves and optionally post the journals.
Open Provisioning entries from Accounting (or press Ctrl+K and type "provisioning"). You need permission to create entries, post the journals, or recreate the lines — if the menu item is missing, ask your administrator.
For how criteria, loans, GL accounts, and journal entries fit together, start with Loan-loss provisioning. Criteria must already exist — see Loan provisioning criteria.
The list
Search by date or who created it. Export as CSV or Excel.
- New entry picks a date on or before today. Tick Create journal entries to post the reserve now, or leave it off and post later.
- Click a row to see the reserved amounts by office, product, and aging category, with liability and expense account codes on each line.
- Create journals posts those lines to the ledger. They appear under journal entries. Use this while journals are not yet posted.
- Recreate lines recalculates the amounts when criteria changed before journals are posted.
- View journal entries (after posting) opens the ledger filtered for review.
You cannot create two entries for the same date. There is no delete.
Entry lines explained
Each line ties together:
- Office and loan product — where the overdue loans sit.
- Category — Fineract provisioning category (STANDARD, SUB-STANDARD, …) from the matching criteria band.
- Overdue days — days past due used for the match.
- Amount reserved — calculated reserve for that slice.
- Liability and Expense — GL code and name from the criteria row for that category.
If no loans match on the date, the entry may exist but show no lines.
Permissions
| Permission | Action |
|---|---|
CREATE_PROVISIONENTRIES | List, create, view lines, export |
CREATE_PROVISIONJOURNALENTRIES | Create journals |
RECREATE_PROVISIONENTRIES | Recreate lines (before journals post) |
Fineract has no separate read permission; Bankayo gates the screen on any of the three codes above.
