Accounting rules

Save a named debit and credit account pair for posting.

Open Accounting rules from Accounting (or press Ctrl+K and type "rule"). You need rule-viewing permission to see the list, create permission to add, update permission to edit, and delete permission to remove.

A rule names one GL account to debit and one to credit, for an office. On New journal you can pick the rule to fill those accounts, or choose the accounts yourself. Amounts still belong on the journal you post.

The list

Search by name, office, or account. Export the catalog as CSV or Excel.

  • New rule opens a sidebar: name, office, debit account, and credit account. Description is optional. Debit and credit must be different detail accounts.
  • Click a row to edit. System rules stay visible but cannot change or delete.
  • The row menu Deletes a rule that is not in use. Fineract’s reason is shown if it refuses.

If a rule was created with tags instead of fixed accounts, the list still shows the tags. Saving from Bankayo replaces those tags with the debit and credit accounts you pick.
