Loan products

Browse, open, and edit loan products. Create uses an eight-step wizard.

Open Products → Loan products (or press Ctrl+K and type "loan products"). You need permission to view loan products — if the menu item is missing, ask your administrator.

The list

Each row is a product: name, short name, start and close dates, status, currency, and accounting rule. Status is Active until the close date has passed (or when there is no close date). Start and close dates are optional — they are the product availability window.

  • Search with the box above the table.
  • New starts the create wizard when your role allows it.
  • Open a product by clicking its row.

Opening a product

The product opens as a workspace with a section rail — the same pattern as a client record.

  • General, Terms, and Settings are always there.
  • Fees, Penalties, Accounting, channel mappings, fee/penalty GL mappings, and write-off or charge-off reason mappings appear only when the product has them.
  • Charge names link to the charge.
  • Accounting lists GL accounts by type (assets, income, expenses, liabilities). Create them under Accounting → Chart of accounts.
  • On a phone the sections run across the top.

Edit opens the same eight-step wizard used to create the product. Close returns here.

What a loan product controls

A loan product is the template for every loan opened on it: currency, principal and interest ranges, repayment pattern, optional features (multi-disburse, top-up, down payment, guarantees, interest recalculation), attached charges, and how the loan posts to the books.

When a loan officer opens a loan, Bankayo fills those defaults. Fields the product marks as overridable can still be changed on that loan; the rest stay locked.

Wizard steps

Create and edit walk the same steps. Each has its own help page. Two videos cover the wizard: create (None, unsaved) and cash accounting (Cash, saved as Normal Loan With Accounting).
