Products
Loan, savings, share, and deposit products, plus charges, collateral, product mix, and share dividends — each type has its own pages.
Open Products in the sidebar (a navigation group, not a page) or press Ctrl+K and type "products". You only see the product types your role can view.
Each product type has its own list, detail, and create/edit wizard. The ? button on a product screen opens the page for that type.
Product types
- Loan products — the fullest wizard: terms, settings, charges, accounting, and mappings. Create and edit are eight steps.
- Savings products — eight-step wizard: interest compounding, posting, calculation, balances, charges, accounting, and mappings. Create and edit use the same steps. Accounting explains cash versus accrual, every GL account, and the terms (control, reference, suspense, interest payable, escheat, and the rest).
- Share products — eight-step wizard: total and issued shares, unit price, min / nominal / max, lock-in, dividends, market price, charges, and None or Cash accounting. Open a product for a sectioned workspace. Create and edit; unused products cannot be deleted. Accounting explains the four cash GL accounts.
- Fixed deposits — term, amount, and an interest chart. Open a product for a sectioned workspace (general, terms, interest chart, accounting). Minimum and maximum term show as a length and unit together, for example 3 months.
- Recurring deposits — like fixed deposits, with mandatory deposits and withdrawals. Detail uses the same sectioned layout.
- Charges — fees and penalties. Loan charges have five collection times and five calculations; attach them to a loan product or add them on a loan. Savings templates use the same catalog; add, pay, and waive them on Savings charges.
- Collateral — reusable types (name, quality, unit, base price, percent to base). Officers register quantity on a client, then pledge those units when opening a loan. This is not the loan-application collateral grid.
- Products mix — which loan products cannot be active together on the same client or group. Not the loan-product catalog.
- Share dividends — declare and approve a payout for a share product. Not the minimum-active-period field on the share product itself.
- Breach — reusable working-capital breach rules. Not a loan-level breach action.
- Near-breach — reusable near-breach rules (threshold percent). Frequency units come from the breach template.
Create and edit
New opens a full-page wizard. Edit uses the same wizard. Close on create returns to the list; close on edit returns to the product you were viewing. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Amounts show the currency code, not a symbol.
On a large screen, loan, savings, share, and charge wizards keep steps in a left rail. On a tablet or phone the steps run across the top. Previous and Next (or Submit) sit at the bottom of the page.
Date ranges
Only loan products have an optional start and close date (when the product may be used). Savings, share, charge, fixed deposit, and recurring deposit products do not have a product availability window in Fineract.
Fixed and recurring deposits do have interest chart dates (from /
until). Those belong to the rate schedule, not to the product itself.
Videos
Each dedicated page can include a public YouTube walkthrough of that screen, recorded on the demo tenant. Written steps on the page stay the source of truth — search, the ? button, and troubleshooting tables always work without the video.
