Savings

Savings charges

Add, pay, waive, or stop fees and penalties on a savings account.

The savings workspace has a Charges section. Open it from an account — there is no institution-wide savings list. The ? button on that section opens this page.

A charge on an account is money: an amount due, paid, or waived. The template it comes from lives under Products → Charges. Collection time and calculation are on that template, not here. A savings product can attach templates so they start on every new account; you can still add more from this section.

The walkthrough on this page creates a specified due-date savings fee in the catalog, adds it on an account, and pays it.

The table

Each row is a charge on this account: name, fee or penalty, when it is collected, due date, amount, paid, outstanding, and status.

StatusMeaning
OutstandingAn amount is still due.
OverdueThe due date has passed and an amount is still due.
PaidNothing is left to collect.
WaivedThe outstanding amount was written off.
StoppedA recurring annual, monthly, or weekly fee is no longer collected on this account.

Add a charge

Add charge opens a docked sidebar. You need permission to create a savings account charge, and the account must not be closed or rejected.

Pick a savings charge in this account’s currency. Amount defaults from the template and can be changed. Extra fields depend on collection time:

  • Specified due date — a due date.
  • Annual fee and monthly fee — a due day (day and month).
  • Monthly fee and weekly fee — how often the fee repeats (months or weeks).

If the picker is empty, create an active savings charge first under Charges, in the same currency as this account.

Product-attached charges also appear when opening a savings account — already selected; you can still add or remove charges after the account is open.

Pay

On an active account, Pay collects the outstanding amount from this savings account. The sidebar asks for a payment date, the amount, and an optional payment type if your institution uses them. Cash types are institution payment types only — not system-generated ones. Add those types under Organization → Payment types.

You cannot pay a charge that is already paid, waived, or stopped.

Waive

Waive writes off the outstanding amount so it is no longer due. The account must be active and the charge still outstanding — the same rule as pay.

Stop recurring

Stop recurring is only for an annual, monthly, or weekly fee that has no amount still due. It stops collecting that fee on this account. It does not appear on a specified due-date charge, or while an amount is still outstanding — pay or waive first.

Remove

Remove is only for a charge on a pending application that has not been paid or waived. Confirm in the dialog. After the account is approved or activated, you pay, waive, or stop instead of deleting.

Savings collection times

These times are set on the charge template, not on the account:

  • Specified due date — you pick the due date when you add it.
  • Savings activation — when the account is activated.
  • Savings closure — when the account is closed.
  • Withdrawal fee — when the client withdraws. Pair with Apply withdrawal fee to transfers if account-to-account transfers should pay it too.
  • Annual fee / Monthly fee / Weekly fee — recurring.
  • Overdraft fee — when the account is overdrawn.
  • No-activity fee — when the account has no qualifying activity.

Calculation is flat, or percent of amount on withdrawal and no-activity fees. Savings charges have no payment mode — that field is loan and working-capital only.

A product-level annual fee on settings is separate from an annual-fee charge. Use charges when you want the fee on this section. Do not set both unless you intend two fees.
