Savings product charges
Attach fees and penalties in the product currency.
This is step 5 of the create wizard. Define the templates first under Charges — collection time and calculation are on the charge, not here. After save, attached fees and penalties show as tables on the product when any exist. Charge names link to that catalog.
What you can attach
The table lists charges that apply to savings and match this product’s currency. Search and the All / Fee / Penalty tabs filter the list. Check a row to attach that charge; uncheck to remove it from the product.
Product charges become the starting set when an officer opens a savings account — they can still add or remove charges on that account, and manage them later from Savings charges (pay, waive, stop recurring, or remove while pending).
If the list is empty, either no savings charges exist in this currency, or you have not chosen a currency yet. Create the charge first under Charges, in the same currency as the product.
Savings collection times
A savings charge is collected at one of these times (set on the charge template):
- Specified due date — you (or the officer) pick the due date.
- Savings activation — when the account is activated.
- Savings closure — when the account is closed.
- Withdrawal fee — when the client withdraws. Pair with Apply withdrawal fee to transfers if account-to-account transfers should pay it too.
- Annual fee / Monthly fee / Weekly fee — recurring. Annual and monthly need a due day; monthly and weekly need a repeat interval.
- Overdraft fee — when the account is overdrawn.
- No-activity fee — when the account has no qualifying activity.
Calculation is flat, or percent of amount on withdrawal and no-activity fees.
Product annual fee versus a charge
Settings still accept a product-level annual fee amount and due day. That is separate from attaching an annual-fee charge here. Use charges when you want the fee on the account Charges section. Do not set both unless you intend two fees.
After save
You can change the attached set later with Edit. When accounting is not None, you can send one fee or penalty to its own income account on mappings; charges with no row keep the product default income accounts.
