Recurring deposits

Recurring deposits

Open a recurring deposit in its own workspace.

A recurring deposit has its own workspace — not the client header or section list. Open one from a client’s Recurring deposits section. The product that account was opened on is defined under Recurring deposit products.

The top of the page keeps the account number, status, account type (with an icon), product, a link to the client or group this account belongs to, and the balance, then splits into sections:

  • Overview — performance (balance, available, deposits, withdrawals, posted interest, recommended installment, and maturity amount) next to product, deposit period, lock-in, compounding and posting, collection frequency, whether withdrawals are allowed, and whether the installment is mandatory. Overdue amounts appear when installments are behind. Amounts use the currency code.
  • Transactions — postings on the account, 25 to a page (you can choose 10, 50, or 100). Filter by transaction date and type; the address bar keeps those filters. Reversed postings are hidden until you turn on Show reversed. Cash deposit and withdrawal rows can be undone or modified when the account is active. Account-transfer rows cannot be undone here. Cash deposit and withdrawal rows that are not reversed can download a receipt PDF.
  • Statement — preview a date range of postings and download a PDF. See Recurring deposit statement.
  • Charges — add, pay, waive, or stop fees and penalties. See Recurring deposit charges.

Actions depend on status and your permissions. Commands that need a date, amount, or payout option open a docked sidebar over the account — the header stays visible. Confirm-only commands (calculate or post interest, undo) ask you to confirm. Cash deposits and withdrawals list only institution payment types — not system-generated ones.

Typical work from the recurring deposit header:

  • Pending — approve, reject, or withdraw the application.
  • Approved — activate, or undo approval.
  • Active — record a deposit or withdrawal (withdrawal only when the product allows it), calculate or post interest, change the recommended deposit amount from a date, and close early (premature close). Early close asks Fineract for the amount due on the chosen date, then lets you withdraw it or transfer it to a savings account (the options Fineract returns).
  • Matured — close with the same payout options, plus reinvest principal and interest or principal only when Fineract offers them.

From a client list, clicking a recurring deposit row opens this same workspace. Fixed deposits use the fixed deposit workspace.
